Maria Kagkoura studied medicine earning a PhD in Vascular Dementia from the University of Constanta, with 2.5 years of field experience in the Neurological Institute of C. Mondino (Pavia, Italy). She speaks five languages (Greek, Italian, English, German, French) and is passionate about medical best-practice exchanges across Europe with focus on new technologies and analytic techniques. Her experiences include work as a Doctor for the regional sanitary system in Lombardia ensuring continuity of medical care in hospitals and at home for specific cases. With R2M, she provides medical expertise to the project Mario (Robotics for assisted living and medical assessment targeting loneliness and dementia) and is developing medical innovation related research and services.
Main activities in R2M:
Mary contributes to the MARIO project with focus on dementia in Italy, ethics approval processes, care options and practices surrounding dementia and the exploitation opportunities for assistive care robots in Italy and Europe.
