Clim’Act Issy
As part of Clim’Act Issy, R2M Solution tested the use of Matterport technology in the residential sector by digitising an apartment and creating a 3D model that can be explored remotely.
Clim’Act Issy is a project developed in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, within the European CLIMABOROUGH programme, with the aim of encouraging citizen engagement and participation in the ecological transition. The project explores digital tools and interactive approaches to make topics related to buildings, energy consumption and everyday behaviours more accessible.
The approach combines immersive technologies, building sustainability data, and educational and informative content within a virtual tour of the apartment. As users explore the different spaces, they can access information, games and challenges related to energy and environmental topics, designed to raise awareness of the impact of everyday behaviours and encourage citizens to participate in the city’s journey towards climate neutrality.
In this context, the 3D representation of a home becomes a digital environment for organising and contextualising building-related content, linking data and information directly to the spaces and elements they refer to.
Using Matterport technology, the apartment’s interior spaces were captured and transformed into a 3D virtual tour that reproduces the layout of the home and allows users to explore it remotely.
The tour provides a digital representation of the apartment where informative content can be associated with the scanned elements. Users can access this information while navigating the space, maintaining a direct connection between the content and the rooms or building elements it refers to.
The activity demonstrated how a 3D virtual tour can go beyond simply visualising spaces and become a tool for communicating information, raising awareness and making information about the home more accessible.
In the residential sector, this approach can also be applied to building management and renovation processes, for example to share information about a property, document interventions and facilitate communication with owners and occupants.
R2M Solution was responsible for the 3D scanning of the apartment using Matterport technology and the development of the virtual tour, from capturing the spaces to creating the navigable 3D model and integrating content and challenges related to energy and environmental topics to engage citizens in the ecological transition.
The activity builds on R2M Solution’s expertise in the digitalisation of the built environment, using 3D surveying and visualisation technologies to support a better understanding, management and renovation of buildings.
