Lorena Sanchez Relaño

Lorena Sánchez Relaño joined R2M in March 2024, where she is an innovation consultant and manager of Horizon Europe InterPED and FEDECOM projects.
She holds a MScEng and a BScEng (Hons) Degree in Energy Engineering, both by the Polytechnic University of Madrid, with specialisations in renewable energies and energy management, respectively.
Since October 2023, Lorena has been pursuing a PhD in Environmental Research, Modelling and Risk Assessment with the same university.This programme focuses on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology applied to electricity generation technologies, which already constituted the main topic of her master’s and bachelor’s thesis.
During almost five years, Lorena worked on a wide variety of EU-funded projects as a research engineer in the IERC (Tyndall National Institute, Ireland). These projects included the HE HERIT4AGES and the H2020 UP-STAIRS, SPEEDIER, SMARTSPIN and PANTERA, addressing areas such as community energy, smart grids, EU policy, energy efficiency services or innovative business models. In addition to assisting the coordination in most of these projects, Lorena also collaborated in Irish and EU-funded project proposals (BUSHROSS), as well as in joint scientific publications.
