Yannick Herve Bang

Energy Research – Innovation Division

Yannick Bang graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Padua in 2015, with a thesis entitled “Development and Electrical Testing of PBI-Based Membrane Electrode Assemblies in a High-Temperature Prototype Fuel Cell.”

After completing his Master’s degree, in 2016 he was awarded a research fellowship at the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Padua, joining Prof. Di Noto’s research group. Until 2019, his research focused on proton- and anion-exchange membrane fuel cells, further developing his expertise in electrochemical energy conversion technologies.

He subsequently obtained a PhD scholarship to continue his research on fuel cells, with a particular focus on the relationship between electrochemical performance at the Membrane Electrode Assembly (MEA) interface, the morphological characteristics of its different components, and different assembly techniques. His PhD research was entitled “Development and Optimization of Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEA) for High-Performance Fuel Cells and Tests in Prototype Devices.”

After completing his PhD in 2023, Yannick continued his research career as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Padua.

In 2024, driven by the rapid evolution of the renewable energy sector and the growing challenges related to climate change, he decided to transition from academic research to the industrial energy sector. To complement his scientific background with a broader understanding of energy systems and the energy transition, he completed the 16-month RIDEF 2.0 Master – Reinventing Energy (18th Edition) at Politecnico di Milano.

As part of the Master’s programme, he carried out an internship at R2M Solution in Padua, focusing on Horizon Europe funding programmes and the MiniStor project for residential thermal energy storage.

Following this experience, Yannick joined R2M Solution in 2025, where he currently works as an Energy Consultant, combining his research background in electrochemical technologies with his expertise in energy innovation and European projects.

Main area of activity in R2M Solution:

Yannick works within the Research & Development division and has contributed to the MiniStor and HYSTORE projects, focusing on circular economy and market analysis.
