Yannick Bang

Energy Research – Innovation Division
Yannick Bang graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Padua in 2015 with a thesis titled “Development and Electrical Testing of a High-Temperature Prototype Fuel Cell Based on PBI Membrane-Electrode Assemblies.” After obtaining his master’s degree, in 2016 he was awarded a research fellowship at the Department of Industrial Engineering (UNIPD), within Prof. Di Noto’s group, where he continued his research on protonic and anionic conducting fuel cells until 2019. He then earned a PhD scholarship to further his studies on fuel cells, focusing in particular on the interaction between electrochemical activity at the MEA (Membrane Electrode Assembly) interface and the morphological characteristics of its components, using different assembly techniques. His PhD research was titled “Development and Optimization of Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEA) for High-Performance Fuel Cells and Tests in Prototype Devices.” In 2023, after completing his PhD, he continued his academic career as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Padua. In 2024, driven by the growing global attention to renewable energy and climate change, he decided to transition from the academic and research field to the industrial sector. Before taking this step, he completed a 16-month Master’s program at the Politecnico di Milano: MASTER RIDEF 2.0 – XVIII Edition: Reinventing Energy. As part of the program, he carried out an internship at R2M Solution in Padua, focusing on EU funding programs (Horizon Europe) and the “MiniStor” project for residential thermal storage. Following this training experience, since 2025 he has been working as an Energy Consultant at R2M Solution.

Main area of activity in R2M:

Yannick works within Innovation Division. So far, he has contributed to the MiniStor and HYSTORE projects, focusing on circular economy and market analysis.
