Ignacio Torrens-Galdiz is an industrial engineer with expertise in urban and building physics, energy efficiency and digital construction. He has managed and contributed to international research and innovation projects in the construction and energy sectors for more than 10 years.
Ignacio has been part of top research and technology institutions in Ireland, Germany, Netherlands and Spain, working on a wide range of projects, including technical and economic feasibility assessments of early designs of urban areas and individual buildings; daylighting and climate assessments; performance analysis of heating and cooling technologies; development of physics-based and data-driven simulation models and in the digitalization of the built environment. This international professional experience has also allowed him to acquire a solid professional network of contacts.
Main area of activity in R2M:
Ignacio works in R2M as Innovation Project Manager and Urban/Building Physics Specialist. He manages and contributes to several H2020 EU-funded projects (including BIM4REN, Metabuilding-Labs and COLLECTiEF) . He also coordinates and supports building and urban performance simulation projects for the Innovative Products division.
